Arrows
The noisy melodic rock of Arrows carries the distinction of being performed by only two people - husband and wife Ryan and Jackie Stanley.
Fans of singer/guitarist Ryan's past projects - Brantford indie rock band The Vermicious Knid, and numerous solo recordings - will appreciate that Arrows' songs are infused with jagged, inventive guitar lines and idiosyncratic harmonies.
Their music is simultaneously gritty and delicate; boisterous and restrained. Ryan and drummer/vocalist Jackie steep their stylistically varied songs in two-part harmony, reflective and abstract lyrics, dense and cacophonous rhythms, and sparse instrumental passages.
Such an organic musical partnership is a rare and glorious thing, and the duo’s uninhibited creativity and intimate collaboration will continue indefinitely, in the form of Arrows.

Flotilla
The meeting of an orchestral harp player with improv-solo chops, an avant-garde classical composer with a rock background, and a youthful soprano of prodigous songwriting talents has produced Flotilla: a strong presence in the Montreal indie scene, also active throughout Ontario and Quebec.
In 2006, Flotilla came out with a highly original independent release "Disaster Poetry", recorded by Dave Draves at Little Bullhorn Studios, which has received extensive airplay on campus and community radio across the country, as well as on CBC. The sounds of the harp, one of the band's distinguishing features, are woven into sophisticated arrangements that back Veronica Charnley's "cool and unusual" melodies. The album is eclectic, with tracks ranging hushed ballads, to offbeat discoesque numbers, and a few songs that might be described as "lyrical math-rock". A second release is in the works for 2007.
There's a healthy dose of non-pop training in this group; bassist and keyboardist Geof Holbrook is also a noted composer of contemporary concert music, and harpist Eveline Grégoire-Rousseau is an accomplished classical musician. They've got pop sensibilities to spare though, and all that conservatory training can't hurt the originality of the music. The lyrics are imaginative, introspective, and evocative, with a literary bent; catastrophes and natural disasters regularly turn up as metaphors (hence comes the title of the album). Yet, from the heart of every song springs true optimism.
As a live act, Flotilla has played alongside My Dad vs Yours, Hexes and Ohs, Ohbijou, the Gentlemen's Club, Deep Dark United, Kat Burns, The Soiree, and many others.

Richard Laviolette
Richard Laviolette is a character who, despite popular opinion, can still contrive a jive even at the settled age of 24. With nothing but a good pair of slacks and a twinkle in his eye, he roams alongside the grunge of Guelph at the most awkward of hours writing one-handed songs for the wrong-handed people. It certainly does not detract from his natural tree bark charm that he can also play a 6-string shoe box and howl like an old dog.
It has been almost two years since Richard’s first release, “Mary Carl”. Since then, he has set out on five extensive tours, playing bars and living rooms from Guelph to Halifax to New York City. Over the past year, Richard has become increasingly involved with the Burnt Oak music community in Guelph, ON. This collectively run label released his latest album, "A little less like a rock, a little more like home", in august 2006. With the help of several local musicians and a bunch of rowdy family members, this album brings together a variety of influences that he thought sounded cool at the time, so he laid it down, like laviolette does.

People for Audio
People for Audio meets in a loft in Montreal, telling its stories, making its films.
In 2000 Curtis, Bill and Keiko began working together in a small mountain town in British Columbia. With piano, guitar and drumset they began amassing material inspired by jazz, art-rock and classical influences. Two years later they headed east, spending a year writing and performing in Guelph and recording in Toronto. This is when their collaboration with Jeff McMurrich (Hidden Cameras, Martin Tielli, Rockets Red Glare, Les Mouches) started and when the bulk of their recording for ‘And this will be our homecoming’ occurred; in Toronto’s Rogue Studios and Jeff’s big empty house. They finally came to rest in Montreal in the fall of 2003 and were joined by Adam and Scott.
People for Audio have released their debut ‘And this will be our homecoming’ through the Storyboard Label and Sonic Unyon distribution. They are also preparing new music and films to expand their overwhelming multimedia performances.

Redstone Lake
Redstone Lake, Guilford's largest body of water lies to the north at the final stretch of County Road 14. Its jagged cliffs and choppy waters once boasted a melting pot of characters, not lacking in lustre. Tales of natives, trappers and lumbermen possessing super-human strength are still heard today. These are the songs this little lake inspired.

Wax Mannequin
Wax Mannequin was bred in the Hamilton, Ontario rock scene. Driven by a need to preach his strange internal imaginings, Wax developed a style that melded spidery, finger-picked classical airs, sturdy rock riffs and careful, impassioned vocals. Like a lost collaboration between Nick Drake and Edward Gorey, or the ghost of Freddie Mercury channeled by Crispin Glover, Wax's music combined grandiose, pop-melodic sensibilities with things abstract and experimental. Hardening himself on the Canadian rock circuit, Wax Mannequin rides an unforgiving road, battling nature's bold face, suspicious equipment malfunctions and an impending harsh world order. Through such trials of fire and ice, a tough, new Mannequin was born - a genteel, yet hard-as-nails Roadhouse-era Patrick Swayze; an absurd preacher of ridiculous and ominous things. Now, backed by his full band, or as a solo performer [with programmed beats, automated bass and angry electric guitar], Wax is perfecting a unique brand of performance art-punk; steeped in suffering and reveling in epic absurdity.
